"Jeg hoster badesalt" 2024

12 plates of 27 x 34 cm laser engraved

"Jeg hoster badesalt" is a site-specific installation consisting of engraved transparent acrylic plates, set into existing windows at the top tower of Tårnhuset on Munkholmen. The work establishes a dialogue with the building, resembling an insect or animal trapped within the island’s structure. Through this installation, I explore the relationship between the human body and that of an animal in relation to architecture. The text, handwritten and at times difficult to read, remains anonymous and may go unnoticed by visitors. I seek to examine the body as a tool for perceiving reality while viewing language as a poetic medium for scale.

Twelve plates are installed in different windows around the tower, requiring visitors to navigate through the space to find them. The texts are fragmented, small excerpts that allow the viewer to create their own stories from the sentences they encounter. The work addresses themes of scale, the body, and the sense of alienation that can arise from our relationship with unfamiliar spaces. By engaging with the physical environment and the written word.
